Give Kids a Chance Act introduced into Congress to reauthorize the pediatric rare disease priority review voucher program

In 2011, Congress passed the Creating Hope Act, which created the Rare Paediatric Disease Priority Review Voucher (PRV) programme. The initiative was designed to encourage pharmaceutical companies to develop treatments for rare childhood diseases by rewarding them with a Priority Review Voucher that can speed up FDA review timelines for future drugs. Since its introduction, 53 vouchers have been awarded across 35 rare paediatric diseases.

The Give Kids a Chance Act combines the reauthorization of the PRV programme to 2029 with broader efforts to accelerate the development of treatments for childhood cancers and rare paediatric diseases.
